The FortiWiFi 80F is a FortiGate 80F with a wireless radio built in. The firewall specifications are identical, 900 Mbps of threat protection, 6.5 Gbps of IPsec VPN and 1.5 Million concurrent sessions, so everything that applies to the FortiGate 80F applies here unchanged.
The resilience option in the wireless family: dual power inputs, a hardware bypass variant, and 2,500 client-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, five times the 70F. Take it where a wireless branch also cannot afford to drop its wired path, or where many individual remote-access VPN clients terminate at the site. For raw performance at similar money the 90G is faster, but it has no wireless variant.
How to work out whether it fits
The arithmetic a datasheet leaves out. If any of it does not match your situation, that is worth a call rather than a guess.
Size the firewall as a FortiGate 80F, 900 Mbps threat protection and 2,500 client-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, which is the figure to check if remote workers terminate here. The resilience features are what justify this over the 70G: dual power inputs and a bypass variant. Both need designing in at install, bypass only helps if the cabling routes through it, and a second power feed only helps if the site actually has one.
